Attorney James E. Morris Named a Fellow
of the American College of Civil Trial Mediators

First Fellow in Upstate NY

Rochester, NY—April 15, 2003
—Rochester attorney James E. Morris has been named a Fellow in the American College of Civil Trial Mediators, joining an elite nationwide group of mediators and dispute resolution professionals known for their experience, skill, ethical standards, and professional commitment. Morris is the fourth person named to the College from New York State, but the only one who is an active Fellow. The others, all from the New York City area, are honorary members.

The College’s 75 active Fellows are located throughout the U.S. Being named a Fellow recognizes the high regard others have for your work and confirms you are among the most experienced mediators in the U.S.

For the past 15 years judges, attorneys, insurance companies, and business professionals have turned to Morris to mediate high-end commercial, liability, and contract disputes in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse, and Albany. He is particularly adept at mediating complex cases, which involve either significant financial issues and/or numerous parties, and has an outstanding record getting the parties to reach settlement.

High-end mediation is growing in popularity throughout the U.S. as a cost-effective alternative to trial. Typically a mediator, who has no legal power, is hired by the parties in a dispute, acts as a neutral third party, and uses his skills to persuade the parties to reach a settlement.

In addition to serving as a mediator, Morris is a practicing attorney, a Brighton Town Justice, and has served as an Acting City Court Judge for Rochester. He is a Senior Faculty Member for the State of New York, Office of Court Administration, and has served as President and Director of Education and Training for the New York State Magistrates Association. He is also a published author, adjunct professor, and frequent guest lecturer.
